Your data on RecruitNav

RecruitNav is usable without an account, and that isn't an afterthought — it's the design. Here's exactly what happens to what you type.

Without an account

Every answer you give, every school you save, and every plan you build stays in your own browser, for this session only. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. When you close the browser the session ends and it is gone — we do not restore an anonymous profile on your next visit, and it never follows you to another device.

That's a deliberate trade: it means a shared or school computer doesn't hand your GPA, budget or test scores to the next person who sits down.

With an account

If you choose to create one, your profile answers, My List, application stages, requirement progress and any financial-aid figures you enter are saved to our servers so they come back when you sign in, on any device. Only you can read them — access is enforced at the database level, per account. To create an account we ask for a name you choose, an email address and a password — nothing else, and no graduation year, birth date, phone number or address. You must confirm your email before you can sign in, and confirmation is what unlocks saving to the account and access from another device.

If you start creating an account from "Save my matches", we keep one short-lived copy of your current work in your browser (up to two hours) so it survives the email-confirmation link opening in a new tab. It is deleted as soon as you sign in, sign out, clear this device, or the two hours pass.

Signing out wipes the copy on that device immediately. Your saved copy stays until you delete the account.

What we measure during the beta

RecruitNav builds product events — which screen you're on, which question was answered or skipped, how many schools you were shown, and when something errored — but during this beta they are held only in your own browser's memory for the internal diagnostics view. There is no analytics provider connected, so these events are not transmitted to, stored by, or processed by anyone, and they disappear when you close the tab. If we ever connect one, this page changes first.

These events record the fact that you answered — never what you answered. They never include:

  • your name, email, or address;
  • your GPA, test scores, family income or budget figures;
  • anything you typed in a free-text box.

Events are tied to a random session id that resets when you close the browser. There is no advertising tracker and no third-party analytics tag, and no data is sold or shared.

Where account data is stored: your account, your saved profile and your feedback live in RecruitNav's managed cloud database (provided by Lovable Cloud, running on Supabase), which also handles sign-in and the confirmation and password-reset emails. We don't make claims here about that provider's internal backup schedules, infrastructure logs or data-centre locations, because we haven't independently verified them.

Feedback you send us

If you use a thumbs-up, thumbs-down, or "looks wrong" button, we store your choice, the school it referred to, and any comment you write (up to 1,000 characters), so we can reproduce the problem. Please don't include personal details in the comment box — it isn't the place for them.

Deleting everything

You don't have to ask us. On your data controls you can clear this device instantly, or permanently delete your account along with your profile, saved schools, progress, cost estimates and feedback. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Under 18

RecruitNav is built for high-school students. We deliberately collect the minimum needed to produce a recommendation, and none of it is required to use the product. If you're not comfortable answering a question, skip it — the results still work.
